Nu-Tek Biosciences

Nu-Tek Biosciences
Austin, Minnesota

One of the more intriguing projects developed by JCW, the $40 million, 60,000 sq. ft. Nu-Tek Biosciences facility is innovating the pharmaceutical industry. Nu-Tek was already recognized for developing next-generation pharmaceutical products, and this new facility provides an alternative animal-free peptone product by harvesting soybeans – the first of its kind in the United States. No animal tissue is required. The new production facility centers around a 10, 000 sq. ft., 100-foot vertical process with 80-ton dryer. JCW Development worked closely with several agencies to make the project a reality, including the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, City of Austin, Port Authority, and Austin Utilities, among others. After an extensive site selection process, a 9-acre site was chosen to allow for anticipated future expansion as biologics is one of the fastest growing areas within the pharmaceutical industry. JCW Development partnered with WDS Construction to deliver a fast-track project to meet the client’s go-to market needs.
