JCW Development worked to repurpose a former Medical Arts Building for the University of Wisconsin into a new center for BioLife Plasma. The interior of the two-story, 26,000 sq. ft. building was gutted and reconstructed while the exterior received new siding a new roof. The two-acre property was not enough to accommodate parking, so JCW worked with the owner of an adjacent property, acquiring a half-acre and combing the two parcels. Due to the age of the building, a hazardous materials investigation was required, confirming the presence of asbestos containing materials, which were then abated. Interior structural work including modification of trusses to create additional ceiling space above the new walk-in freezer. By refurbishing the existing elevator, JCW was able to save more than $200,000 over installing a new one.
